Somewhere, the FHA is laughing at me!
Great to see you again!! Y'all don't forget to fan me on Facebook, and subscribe to my Examiner articles!
(Note for those who aren’t aware: FHA meant Future Homemakers of America when I was in high school.)
I should have taken a home economics class in high school or college. I mean, we are ALL homemakers, and we ALL try to make our homes as livable and inviting as possible whether we work inside or outside the home. My mom doesn’t sew, and I never thought to ask anyone to teach me.
Today, I am bemoaning that fact. I am playing ‘woulda, shoulda, coulda’…because I can’t thread my beginner sewing machine. I am going to figure this thing out, if it takes me all night. Forget dinner, kids, this tote bag takes precedence. (I am kidding about dinner, kids!! Honestly, don’t look so sad. Or hungry.)
This sewing machine will not beat me. I will sew a pocket if it takes me all night. Heck, I may finish the whole bag today. Maybe I’ll get on a roll and after the threading of the machine, it’ll be a piece of cake. Or, I’ll just hand sew the thing…that can’t be hard, right?
Ha.
Somewhere, those Future Homemakers of America are laughing at me. Me…the girl who thought ‘I’m not going to be a homemaker when I grow up, so I don’t need to take the class.’ (Of course I was too arrogant to realize I would be keeping a home no matter what; you’ve gotta live somewhere right?!?!)
Oh, yes…they got the last laugh, all right. Maybe one of them can come over to help me thread my machine.
