Help me understand what he sees in this thing.
Great to see you again!! Y'all don't forget to fan me on Facebook, and subscribe to my Examiner articles!
You stare at me all day,
Waiting for my hubby to come and play.
Sometimes your lights blink,
Sometimes they stay dark,
Depending on whether
I took the kids to the park.
You have wires and doodads
That make a maze for the kids
Who don’t listen to me warn them
“stay away from this!”
Your green eye looks happy
When my husband walks in
Then he dons his headset
And lets the games begin.
My daughter, she knows
Every weapon’s name
Makes me wonder…
Just how appropriate is this game?
She learns her history,
Military tactics too,
So maybe that makes up
for all the verbal taboos…
But my husband, he loves
Watching the zombies die
After a stressful day…
I just can’t understand why.
Sometimes I fuss
And pick a fight when he plays
Asking him, “Is this really
How you want to spend your days?”
So he puts you away
Sometimes a month, or two
But he always comes back to you…
And that makes me blue.

I’ll let it slide for a while, then get fed up…it is a vicious cycle.
Video game-itis has never been a problem. Computer-holics anonymous needed – yes, but not video game-itis.
I suspect that the only sure cure is to have him code a few of them. I worked on some early games and to this day cannot stand to play them after the billion repetitions during code development.

I watch him play and wonder how much coding it takes to make the game. Not that I would be able to do any of it…but still I wondered. I figured it would be pretty repetitive, but it is so neat to see the finished product!
Great poem. Totally know what you’re talking about…
And thanks for your comment

Wow. that is a great poem! So great! I used to complain that my husband played his game too much and didn’t play with our son. And then he started playing GRAND THEFT AUTO with him and I started freaking out about the language! And I wondered if it was a good idea to let my kid kill people ever day…. Craziness for sure : )
I think he needs to play the games on the big tv in the bedroom so the kids cannot hear and see all that mess.

We talked about it and he is going to play when the kids are asleep with the sound low. He likes to play in the living room so he can see the game on the gigantic screen.
