Good doggie!

Great to see you again!! Y'all don't forget to fan me on Facebook, and subscribe to my Examiner articles!

Well, after much deliberation, we have decided to get a dog. There are a myriad of reasons for this, listed here in no particular order:

  1. We promised the kids.
  2. We don’t have enough living creatures in this household to feed and take care of.
  3. We are just itching for new additions to the family.
  4. We love dogs.
  5. Looking at the shelter-bound dogs is just heartbreaking.
  6. Oh, and we promised the kids. (Did I already mention that?)

Well we have it narrowed down to two dogs.  Help us decide which to pick!

Dog #1, Taylor Sky

Look at those eyes!! This one is a lab and golden retriever mix.  She is the front-runner in DQ’s eyes.  However, she is an older dog, and Hubby is worried about adopting an older animal.  We were hoping to adopt either a puppy or a young dog, one that could grow up with our kids and one we would hopefully have for a long time.  But she looks really sweet, and DQ wants to name her Oreo Cookie.

Dog #2 –Reginald Q. Dawson “Reggie”

Reggie is a 3 month old male mixed breed puppy.  He will grow to approximately 50 pounds, and needs a yard to play in.  DQ might have to choose another name (Oreo Cookie doesn’t seem to fit this one) but I know she was hoping for a puppy so maybe she’ll like Reggie.

While I have mixed feelings about getting a dog (I love them, but also know they are a lot of work…and I already have three kids!), I know the kids are all excited.  They really loved playing with the dog we were able to keep for a month or so while our aunt and uncle got settled in their new house (and built a fence!).  I look forward to meeting our newest family member soon (maybe even by next week!) and getting to know him or her.  Which one would you pick?
