Weight Loss “Secrets” Part 2

Great to see you again!! Y’all don’t forget to fan me on Facebook, and subscribe to my Examiner articles!
A few weeks ago, one of my Facebook friends asked me what exactly I was doing to lose nearly 30 pounds this spring. Specifically, she wanted to know what I ate.
I have been thinking and racking my brains for the past few weeks, and the best thing I can come up with is “whatever I want!” To be honest, I don’t make ‘special’ diet meals for myself. I have …

A few months ago, I joined Weight Watchers for the third time in four years.  I love the plan for many reasons; it’s easy, I can eat what I want, and I am held accountable.  On a whim, this time I started posting my weight loss each week to my personal Facebook page.  After my most recent post, my friend Haley (from the fantastic fashion blog Cardigan Junkie) asked me to share my secrets.  Though I don’t feel like I have any groundbreaking secrets to share, I’m going to write …

I mean, a person’s gotta eat, right?  So why not enjoy it?
Ok, maybe I enjoy it a little too much.  Especially this time of year.
That is why I am following Woman’s World’s recommendation and starting a vinegar diet.
Relax.  I am not eating only vinegar!  YUCK!
I am either: making a salad dressed in 1 tbsp vinegar to eat before lunch and dinner, or drinking 1 cup water mixed with 1 tbsp vinegar before lunch and dinner.  And I am using cider vinegar because it doesn’t taste quite as vinegar-y as white …

Yay for me, I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel in both hands. That explains the numbness and tingling and basically not feeling my hands for the better part of two years.  I had to get tested (basically mildly electrocuted–oh, and poked with needles) and then I was referred to a specialist.  The conversation at the doctor’s office went much like this:
Me:  So, you know, I am a stay at home mom to three kids.  If I have this surgery, how long will I be “out of commission”?
Dr: Oh, it’s …

I am having surgery for my carpal tunnel in my left hand.
I am nervous.
It is not supposed to be a big deal.
And once my left hand is done, I will have to do my right hand.
At least then I will know what to expect.
Did I mention I am nervous?

Saturdays are usually days where we relax and spend time as a family. There may be the dreaded XBox, there will definitely be college football on, we sometimes go outside to play…
…but Saturdays are my favorite because I get to take a longer shower!!
Let me explain.  Most days I am lucky to brush my teeth after a two minute lightning-fast scrub down, because I have a 10-month-old trying to climb up my leg while screaming and mumbling “maaa maaa.”  I could wait for him to nap, but the few …

…when you are tested for carpal tunnel.
You will not be nervous, because they are probably just going to feel around your wrist like your doctor did when you asked about the numbness.
You will sit in a comfy chair with a pillow on your lap,  while the tester marks various places on your wrist, hand, arm, and elbow with a pen.  You will absently wonder why in the world this is necessary.
Then your tester will get out his two-pronged instrument, place it on one of the pen marks, and send an …

DQ came home last Friday, and she wasn’t feeling well. Her teacher told me for the last hour of school she felt “slightly warm.”
So, seeing as she was lethargic and didn’t want to move from the couch, I took her temperature.
103!!!!!!
I panicked. I frantically called Big Kahuna, asked him if he could rush home from work a tad bit early, and I made an appointment at the dr’s office.
We waited for an hour and a half. They swabbed her nose and said, “she has type A influenza.”
I …

I am shaking. I did the 30 day shred (level 1, modified, no weights) and I am still shaking. Yowza!
Oh, and I am drinking water instead of sweet tea during the day. I think all those sugary drinks are probably not helping me whittle my waistline!
Although, I am happy because 1) I feel like I worked out really hard and I really only did a crazy hard 20 minute workout without kids interrupting much; and 2) I got to use the phrase “whittle my waistline” which I …

Spring is in the air…time to formulate a plan and get my booty bathing suit ready! Thank you to the Mom Bloggers Club for lighting a fire under said booty by dangling this prize from Game Crazy just within reach:

I am nearly drooling just looking at the picture. But it isn’t just the game–it’s a Wii too! And a $50 gift card to Game Crazy! Not only would I be more fit, but my husband is addicted to his XBox. If I leave out the part about the gift card …
